US President-elect Donald Trump has made two new appointments to his second-term team, with Tom Homan announced as the 'border tsar' and Elise Stefanik to be the country's Ambassador to the United Nations (UN), according to a BBC report.
Homan, 62, had previously served in the first Trump administration as the President's acting director of immigration and customs enforcement.
Appearing on Fox News following the announcement, Homan said that he was 'honored' to be back, and 'was looking forward' to his role, which included the 'deportation of illegal aliens back to their country of origin,' as per Trump's post on Truth social.
Under the Joe Biden government, the number of US-Mexico border crossings reached an all-time high.
