A bill seeking to amend the law governing Waqf boards has proposed far-reaching changes in the present legislation, including ensuring the representation of Muslim women and non-Muslims in such bodies.
The Bill is likely to be tabled in the Lok Sabha on Thursday and its copies were circulated among Lok Sabha members on Tuesday night ahead of its introduction.
The overall objective of the legislation is to better manage Waqf properties, which are set aside, under Islamic law, for religious or charitable purposes.
