It's so crazy right now: Beyoncé and Jay-Z pay record-breaking $200m for new Malibu home

Beyoncé and Jay-Z have snapped up a $200m (£160m) oceanfront mansion in Malibu, possibly breaking the record for the most expensive home in California.

The music megastars' 40,000 sqft modernist mansion, which has been described as "massive", "minimalist" and "echoey", includes a pool and a "water feature", as well as an award-winning concrete driveway.

It was designed by the celebrity Japanese architect Tadao Ando, a Pritzker prizewinner whose exposed concrete and glass homes have become status symbols for American superstars. Kim Kardashian announced this spring that she was working on a "dream project" with Ando, and in 2021, Kanye West reportedly bought a comparatively modest beachfront Malibu home designed by Ando for $57.3m.

Beyoncé and Jay-Z's home was commissioned by William and Maria Bell, art collectors and members of the family soap opera dynasty that created The Young and the Restless and The Bold and the Beautiful.

Fury vows to focus on Usyk and cut back showboating

When I look in the mirror I don't see a quitter,\" Tyson Fury says as, having suffered the first defeat of his professional career in a dramatic world heavyweight title fight against Oleksandr Usyk in May, he is about to step back into the fire of their rematch this Saturday night in Riyadh. \"I see a man who would do anything to keep going. If I get knocked down nine times, I'll get up 10. If I didn't want to do that, I wouldn't be a boxer, I'd be doing something else, like playing darts. But this is my job.\"
