PLYMOUTH boxer Connor Adaway got back to winning ways on his return to the ring last weekend with a fourth-round stoppage against Luke Fash at the Brentwood Centre in Essex.

But Adaway's win over the Hullbased journeyman was marred when a flash knockdown saw the Plymothian himself hit the canvas, having walked into a stray right hand.

With just three wins from 106 fights, Fash was a stand-in bout for Adaway, who had been due to face Greek contender Paris Stavropoulos in the Top Tier show on Saturday night.

But far from being a drop-down in standards, Fash proved himself capable with the knockdown against Adaway, who fought for the Southern Area featherweight strap last year.

Adaway's trainer Marlee Dann said: "It was a flash knockdown Connor got straight back up, and he wasn't hurt at all, he was completely fine.
