Building firm's collapse may hit other traders

THE collapse of a Plymouth building company could leave smaller Devon firms out of pocket and force some out of business, it is feared.

Brady Construction Services Limited "made the difficult decision" this week to cease trading due to its financial position.

Building work has come to halt at a number of sites, including the former Palace Hotel site in Torquay, since the announcement that Brady, which is based in Plymouth and Bodmin, Cornwall, is in the process of being wound up.

The full financial picture is yet to emerge but one worker, who was subcontracted to work at several Brady sites, says many companies have not been paid for work they have done. The small firm he worked for can no longer offer him work and he fears others may go to the wall.
