A NEW campaign raising awareness of the impact of online pornography on children and young people has been launched in Plymouth by the NSPCC.
The Online Harm campaign, aimed at addressing the problem of pornography and its impact on young people, is backed by Plymouth City Council, Devon and Cornwall Police and schools.
The launch event was due to take place yesterday, including a panel discussion at City College in Plymouth featuring international expert Maree Crabbe, a leading voice on sexual violence prevention and pornography.
A professional theatre company has also been working with students from schools in Plymouth to develop a new drama which will be performed to students in Years 7 and 8 in the city to help raise awareness of the impact and harm of online pornography.
Earlier this year the Children's Commissioner Dame Rachel de Souza reported that half of young people have seen pornography by the age of 13, with more than a quarter (27%) reporting exposure by the age of 11 and 10% by the age of nine.
