Officers with Devon and Cornwall Police Dive Team found the barnacle-encrusted vehicle while carrying out a training exercise in the harbour last week. The car had been reported as stolen seven years ago, and was spotted by officers using a remote-controlled submersible unit.
Pulling the car from the water proved an 'ideal recovery exercise' for police divers, who strapped up the vehicle so it could be pulled out. It was then put on a recovery truck, and turned heads as it was carried along Exeter Street just before noon last Thursday.
