IAN Foster admitted emotions were high after Plymouth Argyle were denied a win against Coventry City when they conceded an equaliser in the closing seconds.
The Championship clash at Home Park ended 2-2 following a goal from Sky Blues’ defender Liam Kitching in the sixth and final minute of added time. No sooner had play restarted than referee Keith Stroud blew for full-time.
Coventry’s dramatic equaliser came after Argyle substitute Bali Mumba committed a foul on Tatsuhiro Sakamoto not far away from one of the corner flags. The Pilgrims then did not defend the near post area as Victor Torp fired the free-kick towards the goal and Kitching got the decisive touch amid a cluster of bodies as the ball squeezed into the net.
Foster said: “Look, I think you always are in danger of becoming too emotional immediately after a game. We are obviously disappointed in the manner of the goal.
“We are disappointed to not come away with all three points, but if you take emotion out of it - which is quite difficult to do at this moment - we are pleased with the overall game performance.
“I think it’s clear we probably deserved to win the game and it has just been taken away from us right at the death through some poor decision-making and poor game management on our behalf.
“We will learn and we will learn quickly. Of course, we are desperately disappointed. I’m disappointed for the players and disappointed for the supporters, who were excellent again.
