Henderson frustrated as naive Tavi get beat
The Herald|November 28, 2024
TAVISTOCK manager Stuart Henderson cut a frustrated figure after seeing his side go down to a 3-2 defeat at Bashley in Southern League Division One with the inexperience of youth costing them dear.

Henderson frustrated as naive Tavi get beat

For the large part, it was another excellent display from his Lambs, who did not arrive in the New Forest until 7pm. But there was no sluggish start as Tavi went in front on five minutes with Jacob Bowker tapped into an empty net after Ben Steer’s shot had cannoned off the post.

Both teams had chances in an entertaining first half, but the turning point came seven minutes before half-time when Luke Steer was tripped inside the penalty box, but Liam Prynn saw his spot kick saved.

Bashley then levelled things up on the stroke of half-time through Charlie Wooding and went in front 20 minutes from time through Scott Bungay. However, harry French came off the bench to level things up as Tavi dominated the second half, but hopes of taking anything from the game were cruelly dashed in stoppage time when Charles Wagstaffe scored what turned out to be the winner.

“I am gutted because I thought we did enough to win the game,” Henderson said. “It’s difficult because so many elements of the performance were good, we have come away from home and scored two goals.
