HUNDREDS of people have signed a petition urging Plymouth City Council to reopen fenced-off areas of Central Park, after the area was described as an "eyesore" and a "moonscape'.
Peverell resident Amanda Pannell has set up the petition, which is also calling for an independent review so improvements can be made.
Already, nearly 340 people have signed an e-petition on Plymouth City Council's website. Mrs Pannell, who lives in Peverell, said another 200 people have put their names on physical petitions circulating in areas around the park.
The petition, entitled 'Have your say! Central Park deserves better!, also wants the council to "understand why this project has left people dissatisfied¢" and urges the authority to "communicate with, and listen to, the park community to plan and agree something better".
