RESIDENTS and stores along a stretch of road in Cattedown were left without power following an electrical fire yesterday morning.
National Grid workers along with officers from Highways England and Plymouth City Council were left assessing the incident in an attempt to get the power back on to all the properties along Embankment Road after it was shut off to assist the efforts by firefighters.
A spokesperson from Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service confirmed appliances were called from a number of stations, including Totnes, Plympton, Camels Head, Crownhill, Greenbank, Plymstock, Ivybridge and Yelverton.
Speaking from the scene, the fire service’s incident commander Jody Freeman said the call was received at 6.06am, describing a fire under the stairs in a communal area on the lower ground floor of a four story building.
