A PLYMOUTH man who murdered his own mother, leaving her body covered with a duvet and pillow, has had his sentence referred to the Attorney General’s Office for a potential increase.
Callum Thomas admitted he killed his mother, Debra Cantrell, on May 7, 2023, pleading guilty to manslaughter from diminished responsibility, but a jury at Plymouth Crown Court of the more serious charge of murder by a majority verdict after the jury were told he had repeatedly made threats to hurt or even kill his mother, 58-year-old Debra Cantrell, over a period of years, dating back to 2009.
