Jason Smout, who represented Beacon Park, sneaked past Tradesmans’ Lewis Byrne who added a 100 checkout in the very first leg of his 3-2 preliminary round loss.

Bluebird’s Jack McMinn dispatched Neal Walters 3-0 in the first game of the last 16 phase to get his campaign up and running against the Victory Fireballs man.

The first 180 of the evening was added by Andrew Cook (27.83) of the King Billy during a 3-0 win over Fawn A’s Liam Taylor.

That three-treble visit helped Cook to a 15-darter and that was followed by a leg in 17 before Mark Hatherley represented the Indian Inn with aplomb.

Hatherley took out Phil Willis of Ivybridge Con Club with a 3-0 win that contained a 100 combination outshot before a Stonehouse derby of sorts took place.

Jordan Heath of the Duchy was defeated 3-0 by Alfie Ford from the Octagon after Ford started his campaign with a 76 checkout in two darts.

Mike Pearce, who is one of the owners of the title sponsors and was flying the flag of the host venue, St Levans, exited early after a 3-1 loss to Lee Hellings.

Mann (25.05) then took his first step to glory with a 3-0 win to end the hopes of Smout with a leg in 18 darts, Mann’s best of his initial outing.

A leg in 17 darts from Cherry Tree B’s Mark Shears contributed to a 3-1 win over Kings Arms representative Dave Johns before Quinton Taylor and Paul Tackle played out a classic.

Victory A’s Taylor was 2-1 up and missed darts to win before Bar Mez’s Tackle checked 100 for the third time by three different players on the night to make it 2-2.

Taylor did eventually run out a 3-2 winner before the quarters started with Shears (29.74) ploughing home 14 and 15 dart legs in a 3-1 win to end the night for the talented McMinn.
