Mum 'possessed' before suffering two heart attacks

A PLYMOUTH woman uncharacteristically “woke up angry” and later suffered a cardiac arrest followed by two different rare heart attacks. The 58-year-old mum, and her 26-yearold daughter got up on what should have been a normal Monday only for it to become one of the worst days of their lives.

Jane Cross shares a home with her daughter Annastasia Cross and the pair usually tend to their horses together before the working day begins. Both got up at about 7am, as usual, but when Annastasia (known as Anna) greeted her mum that morning she was left uneasy as Jane seemed “really angry and not right”.

Thinking back to that day, Jane has no recollection of anything, but the 58-year-old knows she is lucky to still be alive. Jane and Annastasia went to the horse yard together, then Jane went home, but shortly afterwards Anna received a worrying text from her mum and she rushed back home.

Anna said: “I’d gone to see my grandad and I’d said to him she’s not right. I went back home and couldn’t see mum, I ran upstairs and she was lying on the bed red in the face and having tummy pains.”

Jane could still speak at this stage and pleaded that Anna “get the blood pressure machine”. But when Anna found the monitor, it wasn’t working, so in a panic she had to run to a neighbour to grab theirs.

A blood pressure reading of 192/120 confirmed that Jane was having a hypertensive crisis. Daughter Anna, a veterinary physiotherapist, had recently completed a first aid course, so the 26-year-old knew it was a very serious situation, which quickly became worse.
