A NEW food superstore will open in Plymouth today in a unit vacated when Mothercare closed nearly five years ago. The Food Warehouse will start trading at the £23m Gateway Retail Park, at Marsh Mills.
The outlet is a new offering from Iceland Foods, which is extending the retailer’s products into warehouse spaces so that customers can buy in bulk. This has created about 23 jobs. To celebrate the store opening, Iceland will be giving away £1,000 worth of Iceland vouchers to the first 100 customers in the queue, plus a 1.2kg tub of Jellybeans to the first 200 customers through the checkouts. Iceland already has four stores in Plymouth: in Mayflower Street in the city centre, In Devonport, Plymstock and Plympton, plus two inside The Range stores at Derriford and Peverell.
