No date fixed for end to Armada Way upgrade
The Herald|September 06, 2024
WORK on the regeneration of Armada Way could start as early as next month but it is not known when it will end, because Plymouth City Council wants to carry out the ambition regeneration project in phases, with dates for the final one yet to be confirmed.

No date fixed for end to Armada Way upgrade

Documents to be presented to the council's cabinet on Monday, September 9, show that the scheme will now be delivered in four phases, and it is hoped to have construction completed by August 2026.

Cabinet members will be asked to approve spending of £29,892,655 on the project. This sum is lower than the £37 million forecast earlier this year. The council last week said construction costs have been "significantly reduced", but also said it would be "delaying redevelopment of the Piazza at this stage".

It is now unclear if the cost of this final stage of work is included in the new budget. Documents published prior to the meeting said that due to construction works in Royal Parade and uncertainties with the city centre sustainable drainage programme, "it is not prudent to let a contract at this point with those uncertainties".
