WAYNE Rooney has revealed 18-year-old Plymouth Argyle striker Joe Hatch made his first team debut without having even trained with the senior squad.
The Wales youth international was drafted into the Pilgrims' squad for the Championship match away to Burnley on Tuesday night because of injuries to Muhamed Tijani and Freddie Issaka, while the on-loan Michael Obafemi was not allowed to play against his parent club.
Not only was Hatch on the bench at Turf Moor, he got the chance to make first senior Argyle appearance, aged just 18 years and 24 days, as an 89th minute substitute for Darko Gyabi. The Pilgrims were beaten 1-0 by Burnley, whose winning goal was a 26th minute penalty from Josh Brownhill, but it was a night in east Lancashire that Hatch will never forget.
