A FOOTBALL coach who pushed his neighbour to the ground and strangled her disabled husband in a barbaric attack has been sent to prison.
Martin Nelson, 37, launched the two assaults earlier this year and has left his second victim terrified to leave the house.
Nelson, of St Martin near Looe, appeared at Truro Crown Court on Friday for sentence. The Looe Town Football Club secretary, who is also understood to coach children, pleaded guilty to two counts of assault by beating and one of intentional strangulation.
The court heard how Nelson and his neighbours had been involved in some animosity for "quite some time" but that it was clear by March this year that the relationship between him and neighbours "had completely broken down". He soon launched his most serious assault in front of all of their children.
