During the summer, Mandy Drew was left angered over Tor Bridge High’s strict uniform policy.
The policy meant her son, Leo, could not wear shorts during the hot summer months – despite pupils being able to wear skirts. Leo joined his classmates to stage a ‘peaceful protest’ against the controversial rules, which mean pupils of any gender could wear skirts but were banned from shorts.
The protest saw Leo, aged 14, sent to isolation and then subsequently suspended – but the school did confirm it would consider future changes to the policy. At the time, Mandy, a taxi driver who lives in King’s Tamerton, said she felt strongly about supporting Leo, as “it is him who has to sit in those hot classrooms all day”.
