VOLUNTEERS who were picking up litter in Peverell said they were shocked to find a handgun and a bullet on a routine tidy-up.
El Clarke, Ashton Samuels – two of the founders of Clean Our Patch – and Stuart Haidon were out and about tidying up parts of Peverell on Wednesday when they made a discovery unlike they ever had before.
Ms Clarke said that finding a revolver was “a first for us” – and believes it could have been there for 20 years.
She said the litter picks have been underway “for six years, and that one is on the list of things we never wanted to find!”
Ms Clarke explained it was discovered at the corner of Glendower Road and Inverdene, on the Peverell side of Central Park.
“It was hidden behind an electric power box, buried under litter which appeared to be dated between 2000 and 2004, so it’s been there for quite some time,” she said.
