BROADCASTER Angela Rippon has survived the Strictly Come Dancing dance-off for the second week in a row.
The Plymouth-born former TV newsreader found herself back in the bottom two after her Paso Doble failed to win her the public votes needed to ensure survival.
In the end, it was fellow news anchor Krishnan Guru-Murthy, 53, who ended up leaving the show, after judges chose Angela to dance again next week at Blackpool.
It came after 79-year-old Angela impressed the BBC show’s judges on Saturday night – despite admitting she found the Paso Doble exhausting to perform.
Angela said: “I enjoyed learning and doing it because it’s so different compared to everything else. That kind of power and passion.”
Her professional dance partner, Kai Widdrington, said the pair needed to bounce back after last week’s dance-off, and the Paso Doble required a lot of precision. Angela obliged and admitted she had to “make faces” at him to express the dramatic content of the dance.
The most challenging aspect of the routine was the Coup de Pique, which Angela referred to as the ‘pointy twisties’ when talking to cohost Claudia Winkleman.
