Tom's 10 'top tips' for holiday letting success

OWNING a holiday let means there’s an awful lot to remember and know if you are to make your business a success, and keep your holidaymakers coming back again and again.

Tom Browning, the self-styled ‘Holiday Let Guy’, based in Plymouth, assists numerous owners in both Devon and Cornwall with their holiday let businesses.

Tom works with UK holiday let agencies such as cottages.com (with more than 21,000 properties on their books) and their sister company Hoseasons, where there are many more holiday options available.

Tom said: “One of the most common questions I receive from owners is how to make their property a success. Every property is unique, with its strengths and areas for improvement.

“I’m always happy to visit a property, review its current offerings, and provide personalised advice on enhancements that could boost its appeal and performance.

“Owning a holiday let can be a lucrative and rewarding experience, but it requires careful planning and attention to detail to stand out in a competitive market.

“So I’ve drawn up a list of 10 essential tips to make your holiday let a success.’’

Tom is proud to work with property owners in the South West, and here is his list which explains all you need to know...

1. UNDERSTAND YOUR MARKET BEFORE ANYTHING ELSE

It’s crucial to understand your target market. Are you aiming for families or couples?

Do you cater to luxury seekers or budget-conscious tourists? I can advise on local tourism trends, seasonal demand, and the types of guests who frequent your area.

Tailoring your property to meet their needs will increase bookings and guest satisfaction.

2. INVEST IN QUALITY INTERIORS
