SWEEPING CHANGES Twice-a-year admissions
KAVITA BAJELI-DATT @ New Delhi
Multiple entry-exit, biannual admissions in UG, PG

ADMISSIONS twice a year, multiple entry and exit options, and greater flexibility for admissions in any discipline of undergraduate or postgraduate programmes - these are some of the highlights of the draft regulations announced by the University Grants Commission (UGC) on Thursday.

The changes aim to set a new standard for the awarding of UG and PG degrees, ensuring that the institutions can meet the diverse needs of students.

Speaking with this newspaper, UGC chairman Prof M Jagadesh Kumar said, "The Draft UGC (Minimum Standards of Instructions in the Award of UG and PG Degrees) Regulations 2024 aim to transform higher education in India by introducing greater flexibility, removal of disciplinary regicide, inclusivity, and multidisciplinary learning opportunities for students."
