The evolving landscape of the job market - what are the new skills in demand today

The economy is decisively moving towards increasing digitalization and automation and leaning towards clean technologies and practices. The change is gaining momentum and old jobs are getting replaced with new ones that require technology-reliant competencies.

Along with changing jobs, the ways of matching jobs with talent are also changing. The job market is becoming quite complex, and it demands both new skills and new career mindsets.

The age of lifetime qualifications and careers is nearly over. The mortality rate of both skills and employers is rising and people need to continuously look ahead and prepare. Everybody needs to get used to giving up their accumulated industry and organization specific expertise and start all over again with fresh toolkits and skills.

Most of the new jobs are being created by new kind of employers while the conventional employers are constantly optimizing to stay profitable and competitive. Most of the new employers are concentrated in technology and tech-enabled sectors and they are willing to pay top money for expertise that can allow them to disrupt the existing business models and practices.
