Good that Samajwadis too are getting concerned about population: Yogi

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday launched a scathing counterattack on Samajwadi Party chief and Leader of the Opposition Akhilesh Yadav on issues of education and unemployment, which were raised by the latter in the state Assembly, and said that it was good that the SP was getting concerned about the problem of rising population now.

"We are discussing uniform laws to control this very issue of rising population. Earlier, a member had asked a question about basic education, a single course, and a single fee for the state. It would have been better if this also incorporated a single law for the entire country," he said.

Answering questions raised by Akhilesh Yadav, during Question Hour, Mr Adityanath remarked: "Uttar Pradesh's unemployment rate was over 19 per cent in 2016-17, and today it stands between 3 to 4 per cent, which clearly shows the improvement made in the last six years through creation of employment opportunities on a large scale in the state."
