A red alert has been issued in six districts of Saurashtra and Kutch as these places are expected to bear the brunt of ‘Biparjoy’ when it makes landfall on Thursday any time after 4.00 in the evening.
As of now, the advancing ‘Biparjoy’ has been categorised as a ‘very severe cyclonic storm’, and was located around 290 kilometres south south-east of Jakhau port in Kutch district.
At least 54 talukas in Kutch and Saurashtra region have received more than 10 mm of rainfall in the last 24 hours, accompanied by high-velocity winds.
