The Global Innovation Index (GII), 2023, unveiled on Friday, has underscored India's continued ascent in several innovation parameters, and shows the country's consistent journey from its 81st rank in 2015 to the current 40th position among 132 economies.

The GII was released by Niti Aayog, in collaboration with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), Geneva.

Reflecting the country's unwavering commitment to innovation, the GII findings said India's "upward trajectory aligns with the vision of Atma Nirbhar Bharat, championed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, emphasizing self-reliance and resilience through innovation.
