Basant Rath, a 2000-batch IPS officer of the Arunachal Pradesh-Goa-Mizoram and Union Territory (AGMUT) cadre, then had the door slammed in his face by the BJP hours after he registered himself as a ‘foot soldier of the party.
“There is no place in the party for a person removed from government service because of indiscipline”, the Jammu and Kashmir unit of the BJP said.
Mr Rath was retired prematurely by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) in “public interest” about three years after he was placed under suspension for “repeated instances of gross misconduct and misbehaviour”.
He registered himself with BJP soon after his premature retirement order came, but BJP chief spokesman, Sunil Sethi said there is no place for indiscipline in the party.
