Sikkim hopes for investment worth ₹1,000 Cr

Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang (Golay) today said Sikkim had received a positive response from foreign delegates who participated in yesterday's B20 sessions held in the state as part of the G20 Summit.

Congratulating the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) on the successful facilitation of the Business-20 (B20) conference on "Opportunities for Multilateral Business Partnerships in Tourism, Hospitality, Pharmaceuticals and Organic Farming," attended by several delegates from across India and abroad, Mr Golay said the positive deliberations in the conference had raised the investment prospects for the state of Sikkim, with investors showing interest in investing around Rs 1000 crore here in various sectors. "The state government would immediately start efficiently implementing investor-friendly policies that would benefit the state stakeholders and the investors," Mr Golay told a press conference at Chintan Bhawan here today.

According to the CM, the B20 delegates were deeply impressed by the hospitality of the people of Sikkim and that they expressed their desire to visit the state again to foster global connection and build up confidence of further cooperation. He further expressed confidence that the overwhelming interest of investors in Sikkim will be very fruitful for the state in the long run.

According to Sikkim's Chief Secretary VB Pathak, 12 G20 nations participated in the B20 summit at Chintan Bhawan, with one guest G20 country and nine other guest countries.
