I had heard the term so many times, in regard to driving, that I expressed my curiosity to the doctor checking my refraction. There is a place in our eye, she said, where the optic nerve connects with the retina. In that tiny spot, that carries the Latin name punctum caecum, there are no light-sensitive cells. As a result, that small part of our eye cannot see light and form an image. We simply cannot see there. We don't even realize that we cannot see. It is our blind spot.

When you drive a car, the area just behind your shoulders is often a blind spot and a fertile source of minor accidents. There are also major problems when we find we have blind spots in our life - and our relationships.
