The 20-year-old Vietnamese-Australian star posted the news on Phoning, an online platform NewJeans use to communicate with their fans, on Oct 9.
According to news outlet Korea JoongAng Daily, Hanni said: "I've decided, I'm going to the National Assembly for the hearing. I'll go alone."
She added: "Don't worry. I'm doing this for myself, my members and for Bunnies (the name given to NewJeans' fans)... I'm not afraid. I want to go."
The chairman of the Environment and Labour Committee had previously asked Hanni to appear as a reference witness for the inquiry, which is meant to address workplace harassment and bullying in the entertainment industry. She is not obligated to accept the request.
She said she came to the decision after carefully considering it, and while she is unsure of the outcome, she believes it will be a valuable learning opportunity.
