US bribery charges linked to one contract only: Adani Group CFO
The Straits Times|November 24, 2024
NEW DELHI - A US bribery indictment of Indian billionaire Gautam Adani is linked to one contract of Adani Green Energy that makes up some 10 per cent of its business, and no other firms in the conglomerate are accused of wrongdoing, the group's chief financial officer (CFO) said on Nov 23.
US bribery charges linked to one contract only: Adani Group CFO

On Nov 20, Gautam Adani, one of the world's richest men, and seven others were indicted for fraud by US prosecutors over their alleged roles in a US$265 million (S$357 million) scheme to bribe Indian officials to secure power supply deals.

Adani has denied all allegations, calling them "baseless".

Group CFO Jugeshinder Singh sought to defend against the allegations on Nov 23, saying none of Adani's 11 public companies is "subject to indictment" or is "accused of any wrongdoing in the said legal filing".
