STORM Darragh claimed a man's life yesterday as winds of up to 93mph swept into Britain and left a deadly trail of destruction.
The victim, in his 40s, was driving on a dual carriageway when a tree fell onto his Citroen van. Emergency services raced to help but he was pronounced dead at the scene in Longton, Lancs.
Millions were urged to stay indoors after the Met Office issued a red weather warning, saying flying debris and falling trees posed a danger to life.
