Hyderabad: Counsellors working with the state education board during the Intermediate Public Examinations (IPE) have had to field some unexpected questions this year, including: ‘Why is the board conducting exams?’, ‘What questions will be given in the exams?’ ‘Why is maths syllabus tough?’ ‘Can we take copy chits to exam hall?’
Counsellors — who have been working with the Telangana State Board of Intermediate Education from April 16 to help students deal with stress — said they have been receiving 30 to 40 calls a day on average from students, parents, and teachers.
“A student asked me why my number was circulated when I can’t even tell him which questions will come in the examination,” said Anitha Are, a clinical psychologist. She said there are students who are asking if exams can be postponed. Others just make prank calls to make fun of the therapists, she added.
