New Delhi: In a breakthrough in the murder of 26-year-old Shraddha Walkar, whose body was allegedly chopped into 35 pieces by her live-in partner Aaftab Ameen Poonawala, Delhi Police has tracked down a city doctor who had treated Aaftab for injuries on his right forearm in mid-May this year. Aaftab, the doctor told TOI, had received five to six stitches.

The cops had come across a prescription while searching Aaftab’s house which took them to the doctor. Police have recorded his statement and he is being considered a prime witness in the case. Police are now likely to move court to conduct a narco test on Aaftab given his conflicting answers to their questions.

“The circumstances leading to the murder suggest that it’s likely that Aaftab’s sudden decision to shift base to Delhi was part of his plan,” an investigator said.
