New Delhi: While lamenting the years of delay in giving due recognition to the contributions of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, be it honouring him with the Bharat Ratna, building a memorial for him or even compiling his thoughts to inspire young minds, home minister Amit Shah on Monday said the ‘Iron Man of India’ has nevertheless remained relevant due to his exceptional work, farsightedness, pragmatism and ground connect.
“There is general consensus among countrymen that had Sardar been the first PM of India, the country would not have had to face many of the problems it is facing now,” he said at a programme organised by the Gujarat Education Society at Sardar Patel Vidyalaya school here to mark the birth anniversary of Sardar Patel.
