The Bombay high court on Thursday directed the deletion of statements in a PIL that questioned the integrity of CM Eknath Shinde and his deputy Devendra Fadnavis to run the government after it halted all tribal development works and schemes approved by the MVA.
"Respect has to be given to every constitutional functionary," CJ Dipankar Datta and Justice Madhav Jamdar said. They directed the petitioner, tribal activist Gopal Lahange, to delete particulars of the CM, deputy CM, and ministers of tribal development, social welfare and justice, rural development, and PWD from the list of respondents. It also said there must be no reference to them in the plea. The HC said "they have been unnecessarily impleaded" and statements made against them "are not necessary for the purpose of a decision in this PIL".
