It argued that the island neighbour will have to settle terms of bailout with the IMF, and undertake serious austerity measures and reforms to lay the ground for a possible recovery. It said while Chinese debt amounted to a high quantum, its onerous terms were further impacting the overall debt serviceability of the country.
The government also assured that there was no threat to investments by Indians in the island nation as there was a strong “pro-India sentiment” in the country.
