Mumbai: A crocodile was trapped in a water body at Film City, Goregaon, on Tuesday afternoon in Unit 31. The 1-year-old female Indian Marsh crocodile, about 3.3ft long and weighing 1.7kg, was spotted in a sewage water pit.

A local, Chandan Chavan from a tribal hamlet of Aarey forest, was cleaning the pit when he noticed movement in the water. Assuming it to be fish, he got a fishing net to catch it.

"But to his shock, it was a crocodile," said Raj Jadhav, lead rescuer, Wildlife Welfare Association. The man at once alerted the forest department.
