A bus within every 500m at 15-min interval: Route plan set into motion

In 49% area of the national capital, commuters can expect to find a bus within a radius of 500 metres and at a frequency of 15 minutes, as per a route rationalisation study carried out by the Delhi government.

New Delhi: Based on the study, the government has prepared a roadmap that promises to increase bus coverage to 9095% areas of Delhi, with a waiting time of five to 10 minutes.

Under the new roadmap, buses will be available across Delhi, including in remote areas where the service is not currently available, the government stated on Wednesday.

“How to use the existing fleet of buses in Delhi most efficiently? How many more buses do we need? How to integrate all modes of transport? Today, I had a discussion with senior officials of the transport department on the route rationalisation proposal. We will soon seek public feedback on the same,” chief minister Arvind Kejriwal tweeted on Wednesday. The transport department presented a roadmap that aims to put the study recommendations into practice.
