A 64-year-old kidney patient, who was on a ventilator, died after a fire broke out at Brahm Shakti Hospital in Rohini's Pooth Kalan on Saturday morning. The fire on the third floor, apparently caused by a short circuit, disrupted the oxygen supply. The fire service claimed to have received news only an hour after the fire started.
The deceased, Holi, a resident of Laxmi Vihar in Prem Nagar, was admitted to the hospital on May 26. He was a former gardener in a government department. According to firemen, more than 15 patients and their relatives were rescued from the building. "Most of them used the staircase to come out to safety and others were rescued by firefighters,' Garg said. Holi was the last patient to be rescued. The patients were shifted to the reception area of the hospital.
