NFDC introduces 'Book to Box Office' section at IFFI

Twenty one publishing houses, two literary agencies and several authors are expected to participate in the pitching sessions

Over the last few years, book-to-screen adaptations on streaming platforms have become a trend, and are usually well-received by the audience. In fact, in last year’s Emmy nominations, book adaptations won 85 nods. Leading the charge were shows like The Handmaid’s Tale, The Queen’s Gambit, Bridgerton, The Flight Attendant and The Underground Railroad. Closer home, book-toOTT adaptations like Sacred Games, Grahan, Scam 1992 and A Suitable Boy have received a positive response.
