During the year, they won the India Open Super 500 series title, helped fashion country’s historic Thomas Cup victory, won the men’s doubles gold at the CWG in Birmingham before becoming the first Indian men’s doubles combination to clinch a momentous World Championships medal – a bronze.
Chirag, who represented Maharashtra in the mixed team event here at the National Games Gujarat, said that the duo has set a target of breaking into the top-5 in the world ranking. The Indians are presently ranked eighth.
“Our next target is to get into the top-five in the world ranking. That is tough. We need to consistently play well and also need to play a lot of tournaments. Our aim is also to be injury-free too,” said Chirag.
