Kelly offers an apology and a promise to do better as he returns from nine-game suspension

Chad Kelly came back from his suspension preaching the gospel of being a better person and teammate.

In his first comments to reporters following a nine-game ban for violating the CFL’s gender-based violence policy, the Argos quarterback repeatedly said he is a changed man.

“I’m sorry for my actions, I’m sorry for what I did (which) affected a lot of people: my teammates, my coaches, women, my family. I feel bad for the situation that happened,” the 30-year-old said following practice Tuesday, shortly after he was named the starting quarterback for the Argos’ game against the Saskatchewan Roughriders on Thursday.

“I know what I did was wrong, and I’ve learned from it. I’ve done more than what’s being asked from me because I want to get it right. I want to make sure everybody believes that I’m never going to do something like this again.”
