RAINBOWS, JOY AND PRIDE

Thousands marched loud and proud through the city’s downtown streets on Friday and Saturday in the Toronto Pride weekend’s annual Trans March and Dyke March.

The big Pride Parade down Yonge Street, billed as the world’s largest, is set to begin at 2 p.m. Sunday at Bloor and Church streets, with about 270 groups marching and a big finish at Nathan Phillips Square including music and performances.

On Friday evening, the annual Trans Rally and March drew thousands to Toronto’s downtown Gay Village where light blue-pink-andwhite and rainbow flags filled the streets. Mayor Olivia Chow, provincial NDP Leader Marit Stiles and MPP Kristyn Wong-Tam were among the crowd.
