TV stars to headline new Coal Mine Theatre season

Will make her long-awaited return to the stage at Coal Mine Theatre this upcoming season. Noah Reid, right, previously appeared in the Coal Mine productions of "Creditors" in 2015 and "The Aliens" in 2017.

A pair of Canadian actors who cut their teeth in the theatre before making it big in television will mark their long-awaited return to the Toronto stage at Coal Mine Theatre.

Jean Yoon, known for originating the role of Umma in the play "Kim's Convenience" and recreating the character in the hit CBC adaptation, will star in the Canadian premiere of "Infinite Life," playwright Annie Baker's humorous drama about a group of women at a health retreat who philosophize and grapple with their individual suffering.

Meanwhile, "Schitt's Creek" actor Noah Reid will headline the Toronto premiere of "A Case for the Existence of God." The two-hander, by American dramatist Samuel D.

Hunter, will also star "Degrassi: The Next Generation" alum Mazin Elsadig.

The two productions are among a quartet of plays that comprise Coal Mine Theatre's milestone 10th season. "These four plays are about health about mental health, about coping, about how to navigate the world today with different issues that are both physical and mental," said co-founder and artistic director Ted Dykstra in an interview with the Star.
