Add borders quickly and easily

Use Photoshop's Canvas Size to apply precise borders and add some title text

Adding borders and titles to digital images is a popular task that can be achieved in a variety of ways. But as is often the case, there’s one method that stands head and shoulders above the others and for borders, it’s the use of Canvas Size.

So, let’s take a look at how this control works before adding a title to the bottom of the border for a complete presentation.

1 Add optional black borders Hold Ctrl/ Cmd+Alt/Option+C or go to Image>Canvas Size. When the dialogue box opens, check Relative and set Width and Height to 50 pixels, Canvas extension color to Black and leave the Anchor at the default centre before pressing OK to apply a thin black border.
