THE PRO
NAME: Stu Meech
CAMERA: Nikon Z 611
Stu hails from Stratford-upon-Avon (aka Shakespeare Country), so it's hardly surprising that his working week is split between landscape photography and theatre production - he's either out in the field gathering light or beaming it onto the stage. When he's not exhibiting his award-winning images or lending his expertise to the photography press you'll find him leading 1-2-1 sessions. THE APPRENTICE
NAME: Robert Speak
CAMERA: Nikon Z 8
Shropshire-based Rob has spent the past 60 years taking photos. He used to work for the NHS and later studied to become an archaeologist. He spends much of his time visiting dig sites, and uses his camera skills to document finds. Recently, he sold his lifelong stamp collection to fund a collection of camera gear that would leave even the majority of pros green around the gills! Today, he's left the Z 9 at home in favour of his new toy: the mighty Z 8.
The Cotswolds is famed for its idyllic, rolling countryside and chocolate-box cottages, dressed in the area's distinctive Jurassic limestone. Landscape pro Stu Meech met his apprentice Rob Speak at Broadway Tower. This famed, 18th-century folly stands within 200 acres of parkland and boasts stunning views of patchwork fields, as far as the eye can see. Its viewing platform marks the highest point in the region, but our photographers' tripod feet would be planted firmly on solid ground as they waited out the flaming June heat in an attempt to capture the landmark at sunset.
