Remco Evenepoel searching for move

Remco Evenepoel is actively looking to move teams after growing unhappy at Soudal-Quick Step, who face an uncertain financial future. The world champion has three and a half years left on his contract at the Belgian team but isn’t convinced it can match his ambitions, which include winning the Tour de France – a race at which he is set to make his debut in 2024.

Multiple insiders have told Cycling Weekly that Evenepoel wants an exit from the team he turned pro with aged just 18, and one WorldTour general manager said: “We have been informed that there is a possibility that the rider is looking to leave his current team.”

Ineos Grenadiers are the favourites to sign the reigning Vuelta a España champion and met with his representatives last autumn. However, the team’s general manager Sir Dave Brailsford declined to discuss it when questioned at the Tour de France last week.
