BOWING TO CONTINUOUS ACCLAIM

It's a funny thing form, if it were water tight then there would be no bookmakers on the face of the earth and the horse racing industry would be unable to survive even under an all Tote system.
In such circumstances it would make the Arc de Triomphe (October 1) a foregone conclusion, wouldn't it? After all Ace Impact slammed the likes of Feed The Flame (fourth) and Continuous (eighth) at Chantilly with a mesmerising late rush down the outside to retain his unbeaten record in fabulous style in the French Derby.
But time is a funny thing and since then the Arc favourite was no more than workmanlike in winning the Prix Guillaume at Deauville and has yet to race over a mile and a half. Feel The Flame looked sauntered home in the Grand Prix de Paris, but then could never land a blow on Fantastic Moon in the Prix Niel over the Arc course and distance at Longchamp.
